BOHOL Island was the seat of the first international treaty of peace and unity between the native king, Datu Sikatuna and Spanish conquistador, MiguelLopez de Legaspi on March 16, 1565 through a blood compact. Bohol Island today is one of the countrys most popular tourist destination being famous of its white sand beaches and resorts, the Chocolate Hills, the worlds smallest primate, Tarsier, the countrys oldest Baclayon Church, Man made forest in Bilar, the Hinagdanan Cave among others. The Loboc River, running from the southeastern coast to the center of the island is a world renowned sight. The province of Bohol is a recipient of the Philippines Department of Tourism as Destnation of the Year.
